# Overview

> Automatic meeting notes for Mac with recordings, transcripts, summaries, speaker turns, and follow-up help in one flow.

**Your meeting should not end with a blank page.**

[Meeting Notes](/meeting-notes/overview) turns a conversation into something you can actually use:

* A saved recording on your Mac
* A full transcript
* Structured AI notes
* Speaker-aware transcript turns with the meeting diarizer
* Imported recordings when the meeting already happened
* Search and calendar views for finding saved meetings
* Folders with folder-specific templates and Markdown export paths
* Follow-up work through Ask AI

It is Snaply's way of taking you from "*what just happened?*" to "*here is the summary, here are the action items, and here is the follow-up email.*" The main pieces are the [transcript](/meeting-notes/transcripts-and-speakers), [templates](/meeting-notes/templates), [Ask AI](/meeting-notes/ask-ai), and optional [import/export workflows](/meeting-notes/import-export).

## What People Usually Want First

Meeting Notes covers the high-friction parts of meeting capture:

* **Forget-to-start protection** through [automatic detection for supported Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams calls](/meeting-notes/automatic-detection)
* **Existing recording upload** for `WAV`, `M4A`, and `MP3` files from other devices or apps
* **Recent meeting search** across titles, notes, transcripts, and date ranges
* **Local Markdown export** when notes need to land in Obsidian, Codex workflows, Trello, email drafts, or a folder you already use
* **Speaker-aware transcripts** when the meeting diarizer is available
* **Ask AI follow-up** for action items, decisions, open questions, and post-call emails

## What You Keep

* The audio recording on your Mac
* The transcript
* The generated title
* Structured AI notes from the selected template
* Ask AI conversations linked to that meeting

## Privacy

<Note>
  **Meeting Notes is local-first.**

  Meeting recordings and transcripts stay on your Mac. With the built-in local Writing Assistant model, generated titles, AI notes, and Ask AI can stay local too.
</Note>

## Good To Know

* Meeting Notes is labeled **Beta** in the app.
* Speaker separation is available with the meeting diarizer on macOS 15 or newer.
* Meeting Notes does **not** have a default shortcut until you assign one.
* Automatic meeting detection can be turned off in **Settings -> Meeting Notes**.
* Audio storage defaults to 10 GB and can be set to 5, 10, 25, 50, 75 GB, or unlimited. Notes and transcripts are kept when old audio is cleaned up.
